Radium Engineering fuel surge tank with regulator and pressure gauge

Radium Engineering FST Guide: Fuel Surge Tank Setup

Once you have chosen a Radium FST, turn its instructions into a complete installation plan. This checklist covers the supply, pressure control, overflow, electrical connections and service access. Use the fitting document for the exact part number for the installation itself.

Identify the configuration

Record the tank part number, pump model, fuel and whether pumps are included. Confirm whether regulation is built in or external. Radium Surge Tank Guide: MPFST vs FSTR-RA vs MPFST-R explains why a single-pump FSTR-RA should not be treated as a multi-pump MPFST.

Draw the fuel paths

Make a labelled sketch using the ports in the manufacturer's instructions. Identify lift-pump feed, engine feed, overflow to the main tank and any external-regulator return. Have the installer check this before ordering hose ends.

Use the correct diagram for the model. A returnless original vehicle can still need a main-tank connection for surge overflow; do not assume an unused port can be capped.

Build a connection schedule

Check Record before installation
Pumps Models, quantity and inclusion
Ports Thread, fitting and sealing method
Plumbing Compatibility, size, route and support
Electrical Supply, protection, switching and controller
Mounting Dimensions, clearance and access

Match hose with suitable hose ends and adapters. Similar-looking threads can use different sealing methods, so check each connection rather than ordering by nominal AN size alone.

Leave room for maintenance

Allow access to terminals, fittings and filters and room to remove the assembly. Check clearance from moving and hot parts. Choose filtration using the requirements for the selected pumps, injectors and fuel.

Verify the completed system

Before normal use, the installer should check the fuel and electrical connections and verify pressure-control operation. Agree with the tuner how pressure will be monitored under load. Record the final part numbers with the service information.

Review Radium surge-tank configurations after the plan identifies what is needed.
