Building an E85 performance fuel system
E85 and other ethanol-containing fuels can require careful fuel-system component selection. The fuel pump, filter, hose, fittings, rails, regulator and electrical system all need to be suitable for the intended application and fuel.
Start with the fuel demand
Determine the engine power target, fuel type, injector flow requirement and expected duty cycle before choosing fuel-system components. The system should be designed as a complete package rather than selecting individual parts in isolation.
Radium Engineering fuel-system components
Radium Engineering supplies fuel pumps and supporting components, filters, fuel rails, surge tanks, pressure regulators, fittings, hose and other components used in performance fuel systems.
Fuel filtration and plumbing
Use appropriately rated fuel hose, fittings and filtration. Select filter media and micron rating according to the application and fuel-system requirements, and ensure every component is compatible with the intended fuel.
Planning an E85 build
- Confirm fuel compatibility for every component
- Size the pumps and injectors for the target power
- Plan surge protection where fuel starvation is possible
- Select appropriate filtration
- Check hose, fitting and regulator compatibility
